Titanic Poetry + K! Dymek

  • Endopolis Poetry Room 40 Main St, Suite 201 Florence, MA (map)

Please join me for an open mic without the stage, mic, host, and sign-up list. But that’s just a poetry circle, you say? You are correct!

This event is hosted by Catherine Weiss, and we will be featuring poet & hometown hero, K! Dymek.

About our feature: K! is gender fluid creature working undercover as an Administrative Assistant in Western Massachusetts. K! was probably never a cat. K! is also probably not a changeling. K! may attempt to convince you of one of these at any given time, knowing you would never actually believe them. K! is definitely not a man or woman, but they are used to people taking their truths about as seriously as their fictions. This is a round-about way of saying that K! is still standing in their closet, but they have opened the door and are shouting profanities at the sky. They are making no real effort to hide from anyone who is looking.

Please feel free to bring a couple of poems to read! You can also read poetry by other poets, or just listen!

The space is small and set up like a living room. There is chair/couch seating for ~12, and floor seating for an additional ~5, and standing room/lurking in the doorway after that.

The Endopolis Poetry Room is in Suite 201 on the second floor of 40 Main St, an office building in downtown Florence, MA. To use the elevator, go in the doors under the Central Building / Main Entrance sign. Follow the hall back to the elevator and go up to the 2nd floor. Take a right off the elevator and follow signs all the way down (through a bunch of doors) to 201.

To use the outside stairs, first identify the North building and its exterior signage (it’s to your left if standing in the parking lot, facing 40 Main). There is an outdoor stairway next to the North building. Take it up to the 2nd floor. Once inside the exterior door there—you’ll be in an unheated lobby thing—201 is the door on your left.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To enter the 201 space there are three carpeted steps down. There’s no way around them, and there’s no railing. Let me know if you want to make a game-plan around this inaccessibility.

ANOTHER NOTE: There are gendered bathrooms for us to use in the building, down a long-ish hallway. They are near the elevator.

This event is 100% free, but we also accept donations.
